SESSION
Decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries. Prospects, opportunities and threats.

MTP, PCC, Level 1, Hall 1 C

25.04.2024, 13:00-13:50

The energy-intensive sector faces a major challenge related to decarbonisation and the European Union's climate policy. The industry is currently in a recessionary phase, which makes it particularly difficult to allocate additional resources for investment. In addition, high electricity or fuel prices are increasing the costs of business operations and hampering the competitiveness of European industry on global markets. Despite the many investments made by Polish industry in recent years, which have significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions, further steps are needed to meet the ambitious climate targets of the European Union. During the panel, representatives of the Polish energy-intensive industry will present the difficulties they face in meeting decarbonisation targets. In addition, we will try to discuss the opportunities associated with the transition to a zero-carbon economy in the energy-intensive sector and the challenges faced by participants in this transition.
